Interesting beer tasting room in Fremont

After taking a ride on the Niles to Sunol train, we visited the Das Brew tasting room at 44356 South Grimmer Boulevard in Fremont. The brew master was out at the Fremont Festival, but we chatted with another friendly employee. The beers are all brewed to the German beer purity laws and include a Hefe (not on during our visit), a lightish lager called Buxom Blond, a red ale, and a 7.2% IPA. None of the beers were really in my wheelhouse, as I tend to favor hoppier fare like Drake's IPA, but I nonetheless felt they were all carefully brewed. They also have a 12.5% !! double IPA but it too wasn't on. The tasting room is so unatmospheric as to be kind of charming -- just a bay in an industrial building. They're expanding and may have food in the future. Now they have a food truck come on first Fridays. Well worth a visit if you're in area.
