[Re-posting to comply with an issue that the Chowhound moderator kindly pointed out]
I got a phone call from Remzi a few days ago who proudly announced that he opened a restaurant. He used to be the owner of a grocery market that I heard was closed.
I stopped by yesterday on the way back from the SF airport to see the operations.
He has an impressive place. He brought two chefs from New York. The menu looks good. He even has "simit", the sesame rings.
He does not seem to have a web page yet, but I saw some references on internet already to his restaurant named after the 2000-year-old Roman theater in southern Turkey: Aspendos Theater. (It is the best preserved Roman theater in the world.)
Thanks Wally for posting the address, you reminded me of other details:
As Wally posted, the address is:
514 Peninsula Ave, San Mateo, CA 94401
Telephone: (650) 344-3595.
